About

Hey Everyone! I’m Matt.

I’m here to discuss my mental health journey and hope that by sharing my story, I can offer some insight, guidance, tips, or inspiration to people that may be going through their own journey.

When I was 14, I was diagnosed with Anorexia and spent 1.5 months of my summer in the hospital. From then on, I’ve worked through various levels of eating disorder treatment and anxiety management.

My story and mindset are based on a combination of real-life experiences, mindfulness, radical acceptance, and learning how to sit with your emotions.

A little bit about me…

Born and raised in Minnesota – I love the Midwest and everything it represents. However, Colorado called to my heart in 2014 and I’ve been running around in the mountains ever since.

I grew up in the outdoors and received that passion from my parents. Camping, fishing, hunting, and travels out west were all the norm during my childhood.

When I finished up my Master’s degree in 2011, I felt a deep pull to expand my horizons and see what else the world had to offer, and that pull always lead west.

Colorado Springs offered the best of both worlds – immediate access to Colorado’s Front Range, and the Olympic & Paralympic movement was located here as well. I took a job working for USA Triathlon and spent the last 6.5 years with USAT and then the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee. Since the pandemic, I was unfortunately laid off due to the postponement of the Tokyo Games, and had relocated to Flagstaff and back again to Colorado Springs where I started over again at USA Triathlon. Life has been nothing short of a journey the past 2.5 years.

I’ve always had a huge love for the outdoors, adventure, helping people, reading, breweries, dogs, and spreading some good karma in the world.
